Bolsover is about to begin an exciting new chapter. Over the coming months, we’ll be co-designing a brand-new Creative Hub - a space that supports creativity, community and enterprise right here in the heart of town.
Through a mix of creative workshops, storytelling, sketch designs and pop-up activities, we’ll be inviting local people to help us imagine what this space could become. Together with our consultant agency, Local, we have recruited and commission local creative, Tyler Turner, to capture and share the story of the Hub’s development in real time. Poet, facilitator and researcher Tyler Turner is using creative writing to connect the Bolsover community to its heritage, identity and voice. As previous Writer-in-Residence for the Cultural Corridor and Lead Writer at Bolsover Castle, Tyler works with people of all ages to explore what Bolsover means to them, through words, storytelling, and shared creativity.

Working with organisations like English Heritage, Junction Arts and Writing East Midlands, Tyler’s projects celebrate working-class voices, local landmarks, and the belief that everyone deserves a space in the story of their place.
Tyler’s favourite local spots include Creswell Crags, Pleasley Pit, and even the field near Hillstown Village Hall, where they walk their cats and find inspiration in the everyday.
“I believe in Bolsover because local people care so much about our town, and people are starting to listen to what we have to say.”
