Earlier this year, the streets, parks, and hidden corners of Bolsover became the inspiration for Bolsover Through The Lens—a creative collaboration between Eleven Design and Bolsover Camera Club. The project invited the members to explore the area through a series of walks, capturing thousands of images that now live on as part of four brand new photographic trail guides.
Seeing Bolsover Differently
Designed to spark curiosity and creativity, the project encourages people of all ages and skill levels to look at familiar places with fresh eyes. Each of the four photo walks, created by members of Bolsover Camera Club, focuses on a unique theme: Hidden Bolsover, Nature and Green Spaces, Industrial Heritage, and more.
As people explore and snap away, a rich visual archive of the area will begin to take shape, revealing the beauty and character found in everyday moments and often discovering overlooked locations.
Four New Trails, Four Unique Perspectives
The real legacy of the project lies in what happens next: the creation of four photographic trail guides, each inspired by the images submitted and the places visited during the walks. The trails are:
Carr Vale – Explore a peaceful nature reserve and spot wildlife, wetlands, and unique views of the town.
Bolsover Skate Park – Discover urban textures, dynamic street life, and the energy of a much-loved community space.
Pleasley Pit – Journey through Bolsover’s industrial past at this iconic heritage site turned walking and cycling hub.
Creswell Crags – Wander among ancient limestone gorges and explore the natural beauty and prehistoric significance of this extraordinary site.
Each trail features selected images from the Bolsover Camera Club members, inviting others to follow the same routes, spot key landmarks, and even try to recreate the original photos—turning each walk into a creative scavenger hunt.
Designed for Connection
Creative agency Eleven Design brought the project to life visually - designing all trail maps and marketing materials, and it is hoped that a mobile photography exhibition will be organised in the next few months.
The trail guides will soon be available across local venues and online - so grab your phone or camera and set off on your own visual adventure and (re)discover Bolsover, one photo at a time.
