How can history spark new voices? That’s the question at the heart of the Inspiring Voices Poetry Festival, a creative programme inviting young people aged 11-25 from across England to explore the stories, people, and landscapes of heritage through poetry. Running from 3 November 2025 until 27 February 2026, this festival, hosted by English Heritage and TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities), offers more than just a competition.

Exciting news for one of the East Midlands’ last remaining colliery sites - Pleasley Pit Trust has received a £93,735 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, helping to secure a sustainable future for this much-loved local landmark. The funding will support the creation of a new Development Worker role, a key position designed to help the Trust grow its community activities, strengthen partnerships, and create more opportunities for local people to get involved.

As we move into the delivery phase of the Regeneration Programme, residents will begin to see more visible progress on the ground.

A new exhibition, ‘Teeth’, is opening at Creswell Crags this autumn. Created by artist Lucy Stevens and inspired by the site’s mammal teeth collection, this free family-friendly exhibition will run from 11 October 2025 until 28 June 2026.
