Exciting news for one of the East Midlands’ last remaining colliery sites - Pleasley Pit Trust has received a £93,735 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, helping to secure a sustainable future for this much-loved local landmark.
The funding will support the creation of a new Development Worker role, a key position designed to help the Trust grow its community activities, strengthen partnerships, and create more opportunities for local people to get involved.
Over the next two years, this role will focus on:
Developing new events and activities that bring Pleasley Pit’s story to life
Expanding income streams and fundraising to safeguard the site’s future
Supporting and celebrating the Trust’s volunteer team
Reaching out to more people across Bolsover and beyond
It’s an exciting opportunity for someone with creativity, energy, and a passion for people, heritage, and nature to make a real difference, and the Trust is encouraging local people to help spread the word.
“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This grant will make a huge difference to the future of Pleasley Pit, helping us to grow as an organisation and create even more opportunities for people to connect with our heritage and green spaces.” said Deborah Bramwell, Chief Operating Officer at Pleasley Pit Trust.
