Bolsover District Council has launched the Community and Place Fund, supported by £15 million in funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, to deliver a series of significant projects across the district through to Spring 2028. This initiative is all about putting local people at the heart of regeneration - supporting projects that make our towns and villages more vibrant, inclusive, and resilient.
The Community and Place Fund builds on this vision by supporting projects that reflect place-led priorities, encouraging residents, groups, and organisations to take ownership of ideas that matter to them. Whether it’s a community garden, a creative arts programme, a heritage trail, or a pop-up event space, the fund is here to help bring your ideas to life.

What the fund supports:
The Community and Place Fund is focused on projects that:
Improve public spaces - parks, town centres, community hubs
Celebrate local identity - heritage, culture, and storytelling
Boost community wellbeing - inclusive activities, events, and engagement
Encourage pride in place - making Bolsover feel even more welcoming and connected
Projects can be large or small, one-off or ongoing. What matters most is that they benefit local people and help build stronger, more connected communities.
Who can apply?
The Community and Place Fund is open to a wide range of applicants, including:
Individuals with a great idea for their local area
Clubs and informal groups
Voluntary and community organisations
Parish and town councils
Charities and CICs
Creative and cultural groups
Cross-sector partnerships
We especially welcome applications from those who have never received funding before, or who have only received small amounts of funding for previous projects. If you’ve got a bold idea and a clear vision for how it will make a difference, we want to hear from you.
A dedicated strand of the Community and Place Fund is available for 16–18 year olds, giving young people the chance to lead their own local projects. Whether it's creative, environmental, or community-focused, this fund empowers young changemakers to shape the places they live and develop valuable skills along the way.
Key dates and how to apply
Applications are now open, and funding will be awarded on a rolling basis until March 2026. Early applications are encouraged to maximise impact and delivery time.
You can find full guidance, eligibility criteria, and the application form on the Bolsover District Council website.
From Creswell to Clowne, Shirebrook to South Normanton, Bolsover is full of passionate people and powerful ideas. The Community and Place Fund is your chance to shape the future of your area; to create spaces that bring people together, tell local stories, and spark pride in where we live.
So whether you’re dreaming of murals, markets, music, or meeting spaces - now’s the time to act.
