YOUNG BOLSOVER FLORIST TAKES PRINCESS DIANA TO SOMERSET HOUSE

Young Derbyshire designer Kirsty Noble selected to create one of 15 floral interpretations for the world premiere of Fleurs de Villes DIANA
A young florist from Bolsover is taking her work to one of London's most iconic cultural venues after being selected to create a floral interpretation of Princess Diana for the world premiere of Fleurs de Villes DIANA at Somerset House this September.
Kirsty Noble, owner and artistic director of independent floral design studio BLÜM Floral, is one of 15 leading British floral designers invited to interpret an iconic look worn by Diana, Princess of Wales.
The exhibition, running from 16 September to 6 October 2026, celebrates Diana's life, legacy and enduring influence, with the floral mannequins exploring the stories behind some of her most recognisable fashion moments.
For Kirsty, the opportunity carries a particularly personal significance.
Born in 1999, she did not grow up in the world that lived alongside Diana. Instead, her understanding of Diana came through the stories and admiration of her mother and grandmother.
“I was incredibly lucky to grow up with a mum and grandma who spoke about Diana with such admiration, they didn't just talk about what she wore or the fact that she was a princess. They talked about the way she connected with ordinary people, the causes she championed and how powerful authenticity can be. So to now be asked to interpret one of her iconic looks through my own floral art feels incredibly personal.”
Kirsty opened BLÜM Floral in Bolsover in 2024 after building a career in professional floristry that has included competing at WorldSkills UK as an apprentice, achieving a Gold Medal in Professional Floristry, and exhibiting at Chelsea Flower Show, and winning UK Florist of the Year: Newcomer 2024.
The invitation to design for Fleurs de Villes DIANA comes less than two years after opening the BLÜM studio.
“It's not lost on me how significant this is, to be a young designer still building a business and to be invited onto a stage like this, alongside such incredible floral designers, is one of the biggest honours of my career.
“And with that comes a really happy responsibility to do it justice.”
Kirsty will be documenting the creative process from her Derbyshire studio through to the exhibition opening at Somerset House, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at how an iconic fashion look is translated into a three-dimensional floral artwork.
The exhibition will feature 15 spectacular fresh floral mannequins inspired by Diana's most iconic looks, alongside floral installations throughout the East Wing Galleries.
